Syrphid Fly Helophilus sp.

Syrphid flies are also known as hover flies, flower flies, or drone flies.
One of their identifying characteristics is their bee or wasp mimicry.
Syrphid flies cannot sting and do not bite. This species of Helophilus is
without doubt the most abundant Syrphid fly here in northern Illinois.
